With so many stakeholders, the data centre cannot be tailor -made for every individual who wants to make use of it but it can hopefully
find the best fit solution to meet the most needs and requirements.
As more requirements get registered we can start to form a picture of which
features and functionality are needed by the most people and prioritise them.
Priorities will be decided based on a number of criteria listed below:
- Perceived value The value of a particular requirement
is based on who wants it, whether people are likely to want it again in the
future, what the cost to them of not having it is ... We'll try to assess
this but a good explanation from you about what you want it for and why you
need it will swing the balance in your favour.
- Resources Obviously 5 minutes of work is worth
doing regardless of its perceived importance but some features require
considerably more time and money.
- Demand If lots of people ask for the same thing then
it is probably more important than something only one person has asked for.
It's not always true but then, what is? (We will notice if you submit
multiple requests to push your requirement up the list.)
- Funding The people who fund our project rightly have
their say in what we do and the current project has reasonably specific
milestones which we have to achieve
