There is considerable support for the yhedn project.
Natural England have supported the yhedn from the outset. Natural England provided funding for the consultation which resulted in the publication of the roadmap document and have since provided some of the funding to progress the roadmap.
Yorkshire Forward (the Yorkshire Regional Development Agency) have provided considerable support through their funding of the Humber Environmental Data Centre project as this project has formed the basis for the technology to be used in the integration phase.
HEDC was funded by Yorkshire Forward to pull together data from a number of different sources to present a single interface for developers looking to develop in the Humber sub-region. The technology developed forms the basis of the integration phase of the project.
NEYEDC managed the formal consultation process and collated the responses to help to produce the roadmap document. NEYEDC have provided support to the HEDC project and helped to develop the integration technologies for the project.
Rotherham Biological Records Centre is housed by the Metropolitan Borough Council. Rotherham BRC managed the pilot project to update the Lowland Grassland Inventory. Rotherham are already making use of a shared server which is the 1st step towards the optimisation set out in phase 3.
Lincolnshire Biodiversity Partnership cross the regional boundary between Yorkshire & the Humber and the East Midlands. As such they will need to be members of both regional networks and we are in discussions with regard to how best to effect this split.
West Yorkshire Ecology are funded as part of West Yorkshire Joint Services. The record centre support the establishment of the regional network and are in discussion with the Environment Agency to collate data for their Water Framework Directive duty.
Sheffield's record centre is run by the Ecology Unit of the City Council. The record centre is staffed by the council ecologists who are already committed to providing advisory services to the strategic planning and development control services within the council.
Doncaster record centre is contained within the museum service. The centre is fully committed to local services. Some 2nd tier site data is also stored by the council planning department. Doncaster are supportive of the project so long as the committment to providing their local services is maintained.
